Manufacturer’s Description
Fitness Improvement
For those who want basic heart rate-based features to keep their fitness training simple.
Body measurement features
Automatic age-based target zone – bpm
To help you train safely and effectively, the training computer determines your heart rate target zone limits automatically according to your age-based maximum heart rate (220 minus age). The limits are determined either in beats per minute (bpm), as a percentage (%) of your maximum heart rate, or as a heart rate reserve (% HRR). See also Maximal oxygen uptake (VO2max) and Manual target zone.
Heart rate – bpm
Heart rate is the measurement of the work your heart does. Heart rate can be expressed as the number of beats per minute or as percentage of your maximum heart rate. Heart rate can also be expressed as a percentage of your heart rate reserve, meaning the difference between your resting heart rate and maximum heart rate (HRR = HRmax – HRrest). In Polar software or during strength training, heart rate can be displayed as a graphical trend.
HR-based target zones with visual and audible alarm
You can define your target zones for a training session based on heart rate to help define the right intensity. When you are out of the preset zones, the training computer will give a visual and audible alarm.
Manual target zone – bpm
This feature enables you to define the target zone as you want and is suitable for your training. You can set the target zone for your training as beats per minute (bpm), as a percentage of your maximum heart rate, or as a percentage of your heart rate reserve (HRR%).
Polar OwnCal® – calorie expenditure
Polar OwnCal calculates the number of kilocalories expended during training. This feature allows you to follow the kilocalories expended during one training session and cumulative kilocalories expended during several training sessions. Some Polar products also estimate the fat-burning percentage (fat% on display), that is, kilocalories expended from fat during a workout which is expressed as a percentage of the total kilocalories burned.
Polar OwnCode® (5kHz) – coded transmission
Coded heart rate transmission automatically locks in a code to transmit your heart rate to the training computer. The training computer picks up your heart rate from your transmitter only. Coding prevents interference from other training computers.
Training features
Graphical target zone indicator
This feature points out graphically on the display the zone you are in during a training session helping you to stay on the desired intensity zone.
HeartTouch – button-free operation of wrist unit
When HeartTouch is on, different training information during training can be accessed without pressing buttons, for instance, when gloves make pressing buttons difficult, by bringing your training computer close to your transmitter.

Review
I’m new to heart rate monitors, so I had a lot of searching to do to figure out what I needed from one before I placed my order. I soon found that the Polar brand was the one to get, but they have hundreds of models, ranging from affordable to incredible. I know some will say this model doesn’t have it all, but if you’re looking for something to keep you informed of your progress in your exercise routine, this is really all you need. Tracking up to 10 sessions worth of data, but also keeping a running total, the watch can tell you how long you worked out, your average heart rate, maximum reached, and time in the zone, and from that, how many calories you burned. It beeps softly at you every 5 seconds or so when you’re under the zone, and also tells you when you’ve exceeded your maximum. The display is really easy to read, even in the middle of vigorous training session. The watch in comfortable and easy to clean, as is the chest strap, which is fully adjustable. I have no complaints at all, and for the price, I’m extremely pleased. I only wish there was a way to download the training files from the watch to my computer, but a spreadsheet also works just fine. (D.W. Richards)
I’ve purchased this product a couple of weeks ago and I’m very happy with it.
At first I thought the plastic strap of the watch wouldn’t be comfortable, but now I’m using it and it is very comfortable.
The watch is very easy to use. The body strap is comfortable. The body strap can be used with cardio equipment without the watch if you’d like.
If you are a female like me, the body strap needs to go under your sports bra, which feels somewhat uncomfortable due to the front HRM piece sitting underneath your bra. Overall, once you get used to it, you totally forget that it is there.
The only downside is, you cannot connect it to your computer and download the data. (Z. Dendon)
I love this heart rate monitor. ( i have the bronze one) I also wear it as a day to day watch as it looks like a sporty watch rather than an heart rate monitor. The chest strap is much better than older models as it slides into place rather than clipping at the side. Also it is coded so it does not interfere with other peoples heart rate.
The watch sets everything up for you once you type into it your age, hight and weight, and it even gives you a birthday cake on the screen when its your birthday… Very impressive!
It also discreatly beeps when you are not in your zone to keep you on track.
Excellent buy! well worth the money (as i wear it all day long) (Nick. England)
